OVERVIEW
KDOT is updating the state's long range transportation plan (LRTP) with the intent of improving the Kansas transportation network and strengthening the economic future of the state. The long range planning process will include both a comprehensive technical analysis of the current transportation system along with inclusive, broad-based public engagement opportunities. It is being conducted in three phases. Click on each phase to learn more about the activities.

Kansas Long Range Transportation Plan rollout
KDOT seeks to develop a long range transportation plan which will examine a variety of issues ranging from system needs to existing revenue projections. Stakeholder involvement is critical to developing and ultimately implementing a successful long range plan. KDOT intends for the process to be open and transparent. Throughout the process, KDOT will utilize a review and input structure of their Advisory Committees to help integrate input from stakeholders into the LRTP. The Advisory Committees include:

Policy Committee provides high-level strategic oversight and guidance to help KDOT build support for the LRTP.

Technical Committee provides technical feedback on early needs, revenue and gap analysis, drawing on the expertise of members from KDOT and stakeholders representing modal interests, user groups, and city and county transportation officials. (Technical Committee link opens in a new browser window).
The KDOT Steering Committee will continue to provide guidance and input into the process as well.
